Pen 1: Drafted by Minnesota in 1994, Puffer was a bullpen reliever in the majors for Houston, San Diego, Boston*, and San Francisco from 2002-2005.

Pen 2: Following a night of partying with his teammates, Puffer was arrested for burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit a felony. Following his guilty verdict, Puffer spent the next few years in the Texas State Penitentiary before being granted parole in 2011.
Pen 3: Puffer wanted to try and help others avoid the mistakes he had made. He penned the book From the Bullpen to the State Pen, detailing his story in a transparant, vulnerable, and direct attempt to open the eyes of anyone who may face the same challenges he did and help them avoid the pitfalls.
