Dennis Maruk (1955 - )
Maruk grew up playing hockey in and around the Toronto area. In 1975, he was drafted 21st overall by the California Golden Bears where, one year later, the franchise moved to Cleveland and became the Barons. When the Barons merged into the Minnesota North Stars, he followed ... but was traded shortly thereafter to the Washington Capitals.
It was with the Caps that he set scoring records, many of which still stand today. His best year came during the 1981-82 season where he scored 60 goals and 76 assists for a point total of 136. The following season, he helped guide the Capitals to their first playoff appearance.
Maruk was then traded back to Minnesota in 1983 where he finished out his NHL career during the 1988-89 season.
